What to Expect

At our first appointment, we go through a deep review of your medical history and your current presentation in all of its complexity. I will ask about all aspects of your health, even if they seem unrelated to your current problem, in order to form a holistic and individualized diagnosis and treatment plan.

In addition to asking questions, I will also use physical exams in diagnosis. This includes inspecting the tongue, assessing the radial pulse, and hands-on palpation of relevant parts of the body.

After determining a treatment plan, I will discuss it with you before beginning. You are always in power to decline any part of the proposed treatment at any time.

Treatments typically involve acupuncture, often in combination with other therapies such as cupping, moxibustion, guasha, gentle bodywork, and herbal therapy.

Many people ask if acupuncture will be painful. Acupuncture needles are extremely thin. Often patients cannot even feel them going in. I have been told that I have a very gentle needling style and cater towards more sensitive patients.

Treatments are typically performed with the patient clothed. I encourage patients to wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the lower leg and forearm.
